Toyota’s lease agreements have been more and more limited and have become increasingly difficult to navigate, and it has taken years to find a solution.
Now, the automaker is working with its former franchisees to fix the problem.
The Toyota Tacoma has a new lease agreement that gives owners the right to terminate their lease without a new agreement.
This agreement comes into effect on June 10, 2018, the same day as the expiration of the existing lease.
That means the lease can be renewed indefinitely and not need to be renegotiated.
The deal gives owners two years to get an agreement in place.
If a tenant doesn’t renew the lease within that time, Toyota can terminate it.
If the tenant stays in the lease, they must vacate the property by July 1, 2021.
If the tenant does not vacate within the two-year period, Toyota has the right, in the event of a breach of the lease or breach of agreement, to evict them.
The lease is also enforced through a process called a “guarantee.”
The franchisee is responsible for the costs of the tenant’s new lease and the cost of providing services related to the lease.
Owners have the option to choose either to take the franchisee to court or not take the company to court.
Toyota is also obligated to pay the franchisees rent, and if a tenant fails to pay rent, Toyota may not pay any rent.
Toyota’s new contract with franchisees is set to expire at the end of June 2020.
