Ford has been given permission to sell the 2018 Ford Mustang for around £13m.
Ford has also given the Scottish government permission to buy up to 30 of the cars.
The Mustang will be sold in the UK under the name Ford GT, with the sale taking place in the coming weeks.
The deal is expected to close in the next two months, and Ford will be selling the new Mustang at its new factory in Lincolnshire.
The car was first sold in Japan in 2007.
Ford also plans to build a second version of the Mustang, with a new powertrain, and introduce a new model to the UK, which will be a four-door version of Ford’s GT.
The next Mustang will follow, with an expected production run of 500,000 vehicles in 2019.
